Thursday's Child

Growing up, I always remember the nursery rhyme recited as:

Monday's child is fair of face
Tuesday's child is full of grace
Wednesday's child is full of woe
Thursday's child has far to go
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day,
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

It has, however, since been changed to this (which I actually prefer a lot more):

Monday's child is fair of face
Tuesday's child is full of grace
Wednesday's child is ever so sweet (woe? Who wants to be full of woe?! That's me, a Wednesday's child, I'd rather be sweet ;D)
Thursday's child is tidy and neat
Friday's child is prone to a giggle (a little silly, but cute)
Saturday's child is easy to tickle
And the child who is born on restful Sunday
Is happy and cheerful and loves to play

My baby, Naomi, was born on a Thursday. According to this version of the rhyme, she should be tidy and neat. Well, it pretty well has her nailed on the head!

This kid is enthralled with cleaning up! Ever since she was about 9 months old, she could be found in the midst of one of her big brothers' messes, faithfully cleaning it up.

She's cleaned up myriads of toy animals...
...marbleworks...
... and puzzles.
She is faithful at replacing her fallen bibs,
going after rogue juice boxes - and helping to empty them as well!
 - Helping Will make his bed - on the top bunk, unsupervised no less!
 - Cleaning up her spilled snack - good thing she's trained, this happens a lot :D She is actually sitting on my lap saying "Uh oh! Mess! Kiki mess!".
She also knows when she's finished playing and will waste no time whatsoever putting back the things she has taken out. This is great, except when she decides we're finished "school" and it's only been a minute or two!
However, this tidy and neat personality hasn't quite translated to her persona -yet. We're working on that. But she has always had this crazy mop of hair with a mind of it's own that is pretty much untameable!
We do our best, and while she LOVES her clips, headbands and bows, her hair is so fine they usually fall out and this is what we get instead:

What a little ragamuffin! Notice the scrape under her nose? Last week she was chasing a ball, tripped over it and ate some pavement. Poor thing :0(

I love this little daughter of mine, with all her caring hugs, challenging authority (YES, she's only 2, but she has a mind of her own!) cuteness, drama, disheveled-ness, gentleness, girly moments, goofiness, hair, helpfulness, incredible sense of style, loud voice, love for accessories, neatness, potty-training (almost!), rough-and-tumble, silliness, toes, vim and wiggles.
Thankful to the Lord for seeing fit to bless us with a daughter and giving us the wisdom to raise her in the paths of righteousness; a Proverbs 31 woman, following hard after God.
